National radio commentator, writer, public speaker, and author of Thieves In High Places: They've Stolen Our Country and It's Time to Take It Back, JIM HIGHTOWER has spent three decades battling the Powers That Be on behalf of the Powers That Ought To Be‹consumers, working families, environmentalists, small businesses, and just-plain-folks. A former Texas Railroad Commissioner, Jim is a rousing and witty populist orator, a tireless champion of working people and editor of a rip-snortin¹ monthly newsletter, The Hightower Lowdown (www.hightowerlowdown.org)
A husband, father of three kids in Montgomery County public schools, and lifelong Democrat, JAMIE RASKIN founded the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project, which has sent hundreds of law students into local high schools to teach teens about the Constitution. As a professor of constitutional law at American University and pro bono attorney, Jamie has successfully represented students, seniors, unions, environmental groups, low-income tenants, Native Americans, and most recently Cindy Sheehan in her t-shirt arrest case at President Bush's State of the Union address. A Kerry/Edwards delegate in 2004, Jamie just finished chairing a key state labor board which brought union representation to 7,000 low and modest-income state workers on Maryland's college campuses.
